An artist who reinterprets the world with handcrafted precision, Tom Sachs
Born and based in New York City, Tom Sachs is renowned for his intricate bricolage sculptures and immersive, singular worlds. Using his studio’s standard materials like plywood, foamcore, cardboard, tape and resin, Sachs meticulously recontextualizes iconic and everyday objects, from Mars rovers to teacups, to make inimitable and unforgettable works of art. His Space Programs enable viewers to experience the visceral thrill of exploring the vastness of space while venturing into a transcendental and self-reflective realm.
<Space Program: Infinity>
“Space Program: Infinity” consists of large-scale installation sculptures that reconstruct NASA’s space exploration plans, along with newly revealed works making their global debut. It vividly depicts moments of journey toward the unknown, such as landing on Mars to collect sample like rocks, holding a tea ceremony on Europa, one of Jupiter’s icy moons, and encountering unexpected extraterrestrial life. The exhibition, featuring over 200 works, includes representative pieces from the ongoing “Space Program” series, along with more than 10 newly created works specifically for this show, allowing visitors to experience Tom Sachs’ entire space exploration universe firsthand.
